NCBA injects Kshs 2M to support Junior Golf Foundation

NCBA Bank PLC has today announced a Kshs 2m sponsorship to the Junior Golf Foundation to promote junior golf development in the country.

Sponsorship to go towards training of coaches, local tours, provision of training development programmes and nationwide golf development

The one-year agreement will go towards the training of coaches, local tours, provision of training development programmes and nationwide golf development.

The sponsorship will also see the Junior Golf Foundation work with U.S. Kids Golf to provide trainers and global playing opportunities for junior golfers in Kenya.

According to John Gachora, Group Managing Director, NCBA Group: “With slightly over 8000 golfers in the country and over 1500 junior golfers, there is need to grow and develop future young golfers. Through this sponsorship, we see this as an opportunity to nurture our young ones and eventually increase the number of golfers in the country. This is in line with our NCBA Golf Series that is geared towards improving local talent.”

“This sponsorship is part of our NCBA Golf Series that so far has attracted over 2000 golfers with two junior golfers emerging winners of two tournaments – Karen Country Club and Limuru Country Club.

“The future of golf is with our young ones. Two winners of our NCBA Golf Series were junior golfers and this underscores the need to continue supporting and growing our young ones. We believe the Foundation will go a long way to support young budding talent in the country,” said noted Mr. Gachora.

NCBA has so far held two junior golf tournaments with one being a qualifier for two international events – The Rome Classic event and Big South Africa golf event.
